Sunday 29 June 2025

2pm - 6pm

2pm - 6pm

2pm - 6pm

From its perch on top of the Cotswold escarpment the Gloucestershire village of Bisley is a place of sweeping vistas.  On the eastern side of the village it’s possible to see all the way past Royal Wootton Bassett to the Ridgeway and the Marlborough Downs; to the west are stunning views of the Toadsmoor valley as it winds its way down to the former mill town of Stroud.

The Bisley Open Gardens event is an opportunity to visit some of the beautiful gardens of the village.  Six gardens will be open this year.  Between them they offer magnificent views; cottage garden charm; water features; quiet spaces; and history in abundance.

Admission and Parking

The charge of £5 a head covers entry to all the gardens (under 14s go free) and all the proceeds from the day will go towards the support and development of the Village Hall.   You can pay the entry charge in cash at any of the gardens; if you’d like to pay by credit card then head first to the Village Hall before moving on to one of the (free) car parks either at the Bisley Blue Coat School or in Back Lane, just across the road from garden entry point No 4. The Village Hall, the car parks and all the entry points to the gardens are shown on the Open Gardens map.

Refreshments

Teas will be available during the afternoon from 2pm to 5.30pm at both the Village Hall and Cricketty Mill.

Getting Around

If you don’t already have it, we recommend you download the What3Words app to your phone before you start your visit.  On our list of the gardens open this year we’ve included What3Words links to most of the gardens as well as the car parks and Village Hall.  On mobile devices these links open in the What3Words app to help you find your way around.  Unfortunately we have been unable to include links for Cricketty Mill and East Cottage because neither Google Maps nor Apple Maps recognises the existence of footpaths in the village and they both suggest walking along a dangerous main road to get to Lower Nashend.  For these 2 properties please follow the footpaths shown on our website map – it’s much safer!

Acknowledgements

Thank you to

  • The School for allowing us to use their playground as a car park for the day
  • Everyone who will be baking cakes, serving teas, clearing away and washing up
  • And most of all, the garden owners, without whose generosity and hard work the Open Gardens event couldn’t happen
